Ageing, climate change and globalisation put “Public, social and cooperative economy meeting the general interest” in front of important challenges. Despite the crisis and increased pressure on public budgets, traditional providers of services of general interest take over additional missions and always more citizens depend on them. CIRIEC 2012 will deal with opportunities and risks for public, social and cooperative enterprises to provide, in a responsible and sustainable manner, high quality services, contributing to a forward-looking social model.
This year the Energy Globe Awards will be presented at the CIRIEC congress. These Awards are given by the Energy Globe Foundation to innovative projects in the field of sustainability in five categories: air, earth, fire, water and youth. Energy Globe Foundation’s activities are supported by UNIDO, UNEP and UNESCO.
